Just Over Broke…
What does this mean to you?
I know exactly what it means to me. Recently, we the people in South Carolina and North Carolina just experienced the effects of Hurricane Florence.
Let me start by saying, I was not in the area of North Carolina that had massive flooding. In fact, we barely had any of the serious problems that occurred in North Carolina in the area I live. Believe me, I feel totally blessed that it did not impact us in that way.
We did have minor issues, but the fact still remains it effected us in different ways than the devastation in the coastal areas. The huge amount of rainfall had a major impact on those devastated areas. But not in my area.
The impact in my area is more about the financial aspect. A little background…I am an hourly employee in a manufacturing plant. The plant closed with the projections of massive damage possible in our area…then the storm slowed way down and only meandered through any of the areas it hit.
So, as a result it dumped huge amounts of rain on many coastal areas in North Carolina and some parts of South Carolina. Now, getting back to my area… the storm was extremely weak as far as winds and damage from tornadoes is concerned. It didn’t hardly do any damage.
No tornadoes…and I thank God for that. Again, we are blessed that it didn’t effect us that way.
No Overtime…
Well, as a result of being shut down over the weekend…I didn’t work any overtime. It hurt my paycheck. I had vacation time for the week days we missed, but that didn’t cover the weekend. We just didn’t get the extra hours I was getting in the previous weeks.
We ended up with less in our paychecks as a result of no overtime. I also rely on an operation previous to the machine I operate. The guys that run that machine ended up missing time at work and only one of the operators was able to run that machine and feed me with parts to run my machine. Well, guess what happened to the following weekend for me and the other guys that run my machine…
That’s right, no overtime that weekend either. That’s two weeks with a straight 40 hour paycheck. Not what I was used to getting paid. I know, you’re thinking…”why do you rely on overtime to pay your bills?” I understand that thinking…I cannot deny that you’re right.
Read on to see where I am going with this…
My wife left her teaching position about 5-6 years ago and is pursuing her own pet-sitting business. In the meantime, I’m working the extra hours to pay the bills until her business is strong enough to help us out with the bills. Well, we are close but not quite there.
So, that’s where we are now…me doing this blog thing to try to build a business of my own to add to my income potential. Also, to not rely on my hourly paycheck so much. Now, my question to you is this… can you see yourself in my boat?
Maybe not in exactly the same way, but in a way that your hourly paycheck does not quite cover the bills.
What would you do?
Seriously, have you thought ways to make ends meet if you are stretched too thin already?
How would you find a way to pay for the extras?
Do you have a strategy of being self-reliant?
Do you have a boss you have to answer to?
Do you have a boss to tell you we don’t need you to work extra hours…when you depend on those extra hours?
These are valid questions and if you find yourself in my position then you understand how I feel and would need to find a way out of this predicament.
Do you think I am waiting on my wife to have a strong enough pet-sitting business? I’m not.
I am like most guys out there. We don’t want to depend on our wives to bring in the income.
Call me a male chauvinist… I’m not, I have no problem with my wife working. In fact, she made more money than I did when she was teaching. I just feel and so does she, that it is my responsibility to bring home the bacon, so to speak. We are in agreement on this…we work together to bring in income. She does her part, I do mine.
I would just prefer that she not have to work so hard to bring in money… sort of let her income pay the little extras. Things she wants for herself and/or pay for things like our daughter’s dance classes and costumes. I imagine if your reading this, you are in the same thoughts we are. You may be a husband or even a wife having difficulty paying the bills.
My Answer to My Problems…
If you are a husband and wish to make things better for your family you may be considering what I do…affiliate marketing with Wealthy Affiliates.
If you are a wife, you may be wanting to help your husband out so he doesn’t have to work so hard.
Or, you may just be relationship partners wishing for a better life and trying to make ends meet with both your incomes.
Clicking on the link above will take you to my review of the platform for Wealthy Affiliates. This is my answer to my problem.
Is it a fast way to bring in income? No. It will take time to actualize my dream of a business bringing in passive income.
But, it will eventually enable me to not rely on my overtime to pay the bills and it’ll be forever income as long as I keep writing blogs and bring traffic to my site(s). My wife won’t feel it necessary to help out with the bills either. She can do whatever she wants with her income.
What is Passive Income?
In case you are wondering what passive income is, its an income stream that sort of runs itself. You do the work ahead of time and then later it starts to come in and you do not have to be actively doing anything to earn the income. Unlike my hourly job…I have to put in the time at work to be paid by my employer.
Passive income, will earn the income whether or not you are sitting in front of the computer. It can happen while sleeping, on vacation, or doing anything. It is the most ideal way to bring in a steady income stream.
How Do You do it?

Wow, you have a way to paint a picture with your words and I feel your pain. Working for someone else all your life can be a real struggle. Their needs are met while yours are pushed to the side if acknowledged at all. Wealthy affiliate sounds like the perfect solution to your problem and many others all around the globe. Signing up is a no brainer.
Exactly, it was a no-brainer. It will require work with writing content. But, it is work I am willing to do for the better life it can also provide. Thanks for your comment and stopping by. I wish you the best.
I totally get where you ar e coming from. My wife and I just dont earn quite as much as we need so we are both looking for opportunities online and that is how I stumbled across you site. i have read about affiiiat emarketing before but it sounded so complicated I didnt look into it properly. From your review it sounds like I was wrong to dismiss it and Wealthy Affiliates seem to make the whole thing quite straightforward.
Thank you for visiting my site, and for the comments. I found Wealthy Affiliates the same way you found my site and after three days in the starter membership was so happy with the possibilities that I went Premium. It was a no-brainer for me. I hope you have reconsidered and give it a serious go.
Glad to hear that you dodge the full brunt of hurricane Florence. Yes. it’s a tough economy right now. I hear in the news that the economy is strong…but I just don’t see it. Everything is so expensive…and costs go up…yet salaries and wages are stagnant.
You mention that Wealthy Affiliate has a free option. Is there a time limit on how long you can stay “free” or do you have to upgrade after a certain amount of time? Is this a good income stream for someone new to starting an online business?
The free option is unlimited as far as how long you can be a starter member. Upgrading is solely up to you after you have tried it for free. There are limitations on what you can access with the starter membership, but the income potential is up to you by how much you actually put into it. I hope this answers your question.
As for the economy, there are more jobs out there than there are people to fill them. I am doing my best to give this a go, so it opens my options more. I wish you the best.
